Thinking About Recital

It might be hard to believe, but we are already well into thinking about our 2026 recital! Paperwork has gone home, music playlists are being made, and teachers are sorting through costume galleries to find just the right pick for each class. This time of year is so exciting as we reminisce on past years and plan to make the next recital just as magical as the last. If this is your first recital with us, here is some information to help understand what all this special event entails at Thomas Dance.
- Recital dates We hold two weekends of shows! Each weekend we will have multiple shows to accommodate all of our fabulous dancers. You will receive information in early 2026 that explains which day and time your dancer’s show will take place.
- May 16th and 17th will be our Petites age shows and will include our youngest dancers up to the K-1st or K-2nd age group
- May 30th and 31st will be our Elementary, Middle School and High School age shows, starting with our 1st-2nd grade classes all the way up to our teen classes
- Recital package Each dancer should have received an individualized packet that outlines your recital package. We created the recital package to be all inclusive! It includes a costume per dance that your child does, any alterations that the costume may need, a pair of tights (if needed), and a headpiece for the costume. This package also provides you with four tickets to the performance as well as helps cover the cost of the performance venue and production team.
- Recital venue We hold our recitals at West Allegheny High School. This school offers ample parking with a drop off lane and a large auditorium so that all of your family members can come watch your star!
- Recital dances Starting in the new year, your dancer will begin working on their recital dance during class! This is such a fun time for all. From the excitement of finding out what song we’ve chosen to learning new choreography each week, dancers will slowly work towards being performance ready in May!
Recital paperwork is due November 10th! If you still have questions about our recital process, please feel free to reach out to a teacher, call, or stop by the office to chat with one of our office staff. We are happy to answer all questions!
